SISU Mouthguard: Warranty & Returns

Written by SISU | Mar 15, 2016 7:29:06 PM

In honor of World Consumer Rights Day, we want to let you know that you have the right to the perfect mouthguard. But even the strongest mouthguard on the market cannot stop a freight train. While we have the lowest number of claims in the industry, with the highest warranty, there are, occasionally, injuries that occur.

In case of dental injury, SISU Guard offers the highest dental warranty on the market. If you damage your teeth and they were being protected by SISU, it’s our responsibility to fix that.  For up to a year after the purchase, SISU covers dental damages maxing at $35,000.

What is covered?

Every part of the guard (perforations, material and crumple zones) is essential for our Diffusix Technology™ to work. Our warranty will not cover your dental treatment if there are visible signs of trimming, chewing or stretching the guard. In order to effectively protect your pearly whites, the SISU guard needs to be fitted and worn properly at all times.

SISU covers all natural and sound teeth. Artificial teeth or teeth that have previously been damaged (such as root canal or partial reconstruction) are not as strong as your natural born teeth and cannot not be covered. The warranty also excludes: caps, crowns, veneers, bridges or dentures.

How to File a Claim

In the unlikely situation that you endure a dental injury, there are some guidelines we need you to follow. Please take care of your injury as soon as possible and then call at your earliest convenience so we can help you file a claim. We will need to hear from you within 30 days of your incident. Our customer service manager - Terry will assist you. Here is what you will need to do in order to file your claim:

  • Receipt of purchase - If your purchased directly from our website or registered your guard, we will be able to look up your purchase history.

  • Mouthguard used during injury

  • Statement of incident - If the dental injury occurred during a sporting event, game or practice, please obtain a note from the referee or coach that details the incident. If it occurred during a “free” play or pick up game, please obtain a note from two witnesses.

  • Dental Treatment Plan - After the injury occurs, please seek treatment immediately. When you visit the dentist to treat the injury, they will give you an outline of the treatment needed.

Once you have gathered all these documents and treatment has taken place, mail them to us for review within 30 business days of the incident. The review process should not take more than two weeks. After the claim has been approved, we will reimburse your out of pocket costs after insurance. If you do not have insurance, we will pay out up to $940 per tooth.

Returns

You may return or exchange your new SISU guard, provided it is unopened and in its original packaging within 30 days of receiving the order. Once the package is opened it cannot be returned. We replace defective mouth guards at no charge provided you report the problem within 30 days of receiving the order.

Best Practices

Please follow these guidelines to get the most out of your SISU Guard:

  • Do not try to fit the SISU Mouthguard over braces by yourself. You must consult with your orthodontist or other dental professional first.

  • Do not stretch the material. This may thin out the material and decrease the strength of the mouth guard

  • Do not overheat the mouth guard (over 160 degrees F)

  • Do not clean the mouth guard in your dishwasher or washing machine, since this could lead to deformation and weakening of the material

  • Follow the instructions regarding cleaning and storage

  • Avoid situations where inhalation or swallowing of the mouth guard could occur
