A study on 202 former football players found that chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) may be more common than previously thought. In fact, the study found CTE in 99 percent of brains obtained from NFL players, 91 percent of college football players, and 21 percent of high school players. Today, diagnoses of concussions are on the rise in contact sports, particularly in football, and the concussion issue is generating attention at all levels of play. High school football players suffered 11 concussions for every 10,000 games or practices. In addition to that, previous concussion research was found to be flawed and actually omitted diagnosed concussions.
