5 year anniversary shout out to Roller Derby!

Roller Derby is our first love. Derby is what got us on the map, but we often get the question, "why did SISU become the preferred mouth guard of roller derby athletes?" To a lot of people it is an odd sport that is still sort of invisible. But we know there is nothing invisible about roller derby! So for us, trying to catch your interest made perfect sense.

The truth is that SISU™ and roller derby have a lot in common. We never had any big investors, neither do we want any. Since we turned investors down, we had to grow in a much smarter and cost efficient way, through grass root campaigns and industry referrals. We grew organically, just like derby. Five years later, I think it's fair to say that we have succeeded.

We want to continue to be an independent and strong company by building the smartest protection out there for people who are trail blazers and trend setters,  who are interested in the newest cutting edge technology. And furthermore, nobody of the big companies really saw the potential with the derby athletes as we did. And vice versa. So seriously, it was a match made in heaven from day one.

And to think it all started out with two ladies going to a WFTDA derby event in Chicagoabout three ears ago. We didn't really know what to expect, but the response was overwhelming. We loved meeting the athletes who were welcoming and warm and friendly. But one thing they didn't like (which I completely agree with now, but honestly we didn't know better at the time) was our poster showing a freakishly made up and dressed up bimbo on skates. We quickly realized our mistake and nowadays we have that poster hanging on the wall as a reminder that we really aren't ever bigger than our mistakes. Through the years, we've learned that derby gals and lads are smart, determined, dedicated and super loyal to their sport and their supporters. We love being part of your culture and are so honored to be your chosen mouthguard.

Now, five years later, other sports have discovered us as well.  Hockey, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, gaelic football athletes consider us the best mouthguard for their sport. We are sold in stores all over North America, in Europe and in Australia and every day we get phone calls from stores and distributors who wants to carry our SISU mouthguards.

So, here's to all you derby athletes. Thank you for being the first to see the potential of SISU mouthguards and for helping us grow. We love you forever and ever!
